In summary, it was not an event where the organizers were well informed, and consequently, the communication was impacted negatively. The reason why our trumpeter was not there, was simply because he tested positive for COVD 19, but we let it know to the bridal 2 days in advance by email as soon as we knew, and we rushed as much as we can to find a dep, was impossible due to the short time, but the option we found sounded fantastic and in good agreement with the songs. This big and uncomfortable delay caused us to finish much later than agreed (1hr) in the contract, and even so, we accepted it as professionals, without asking for any compensation in return (something that is usually done in these cases). When we were going to play one of your requests "you are my sunshine" the bride said that the person the song was dedicated to, had already left but she told us that she recognised it wasn't the fault of the Mariachi because everything had been delayed enormously and the photographer had left by then. The speeches took longer than the scheduled time and consequently the set-up started late and it was up to us to do it super fast with all the stress that this entails, such as nerves, rushing etc. I believe then that you were not told the truth about this specific topic. The person in charge and the sound guy of the venue told us not to show our faces on the stage until the speeches were finished because nothing could be done at that time and then we were made to continue waiting. Then we were taken to the room where they made us wait for an hour-long doing nothing. If you're booking them I wouldn't necessarily discourage you if your heart is set on a mariachi band but I would suggest getting everything you want agreed in writing - songs, instruments, timing - before paying in full. And it does cut deeply when you've spent a lot of money on a band and they caused things to run late, you feel ignored and you get a very different experience to what you expected from the YouTube video. I don't want to seem that I'm nit picking - it's natural to want things to run the way you want them to on your wedding day.
I should say a lot of people danced and enjoyed the music but it did not reach my expectations.
At the end of the day, that's why I hired a mariachi band. I'd said that I wanted music for people to dance to. Arriving on time / a little bit of planning could have avoided this.ħ) there were a lot more slow songs than high energy songs. At one point I'd sent 3 of 4 messages through different channels before getting a response which didn't address all the points that had been asked.Ħ) one song we requested was to honour my stepson, by the time they played it he'd gone to bed as it was late. It might have helped if I'd known the setlist / that there would be no horns before the night. We didn't get as much as we wanted.ĥ) once I'd paid the communication was slow and poor. The guests commented that at a wedding you really expect to hear some music that is familiar to most ears. We had one pop cover (stand by me) and my girl which we asked for. It would have really helpedĥ) we agreed by email the set should have a good number of pop covers with a mariachi twist. We didnt get the three people from the youtube video (and this led me to expect at least one horn player)Ĥ) I asked for their set list, it was never sent to me. You expect horns when you hire a mariachi band.ģ) it wasn't as advertised.

The lateness issue was something I really didnt need on my wedding day.
I'm not sure if they got the first dance. That caused problems for us as it derailed the schedule, the photographer needed to leave at a certain time and so didnt get any photos of people dancing to the band. I'll try to summarise it as best as I can here and I'll do my best to be even handed.ġ) the band arrived late and didnt set up during the speeches which I was informed they were capable of doing. We had a lovely day but the choice of band I probably could have improved as it was not the best experience.
